Kundalini Awakening and Therapy

Kundalini Shakti is traditionally described as a latent spiritual potential at the base of the spine that unfolds as we spiritually evolve. Though it is often described as an energy, it is my understanding from my most trusted teachers that kundalini is actually the divine guide within; the intelligence that leads us toward spiritual liberation.
Kundalini Shakti wants us to be free and to know our true Self. As this process unfolds, she begins to release stored material within the koshas, or the veils that obscure our deepest nature. These layers may hold unresolved emotions, memories, and psychological patterns that have not yet been fully met and healed.
This process can be incredibly challenging. We may suddenly find ourselves face-to-face with aspects of our psyche that were previously hidden or suppressed. At times, the intensity of this inner release can make us feel like victims of the process. Yet, from a deeper perspective, this unfolding is a blessing. It offers us the opportunity to become free from the burdens we carry and to live from a more authentic and liberated place.
How Therapy Can Support Kundalini Awakening
Therapy can be deeply supportive during a kundalini process because it helps facilitate the movement and integration of repressed material.
It is often easier to face difficult emotions or memories when someone trustworthy is present with us. Having a compassionate witness can make the process feel less isolating and more manageable.
My goal is to be that person for individuals going through this kind of spiritual transformation.
I understand that it can feel hard or even frightening to share about kundalini experiences with a therapist. There is often a fear that these experiences will be pathologized, dismissed, or simply misunderstood. In my work, I hold a deep respect for Kundalini Shakti and approach this process with reverence.
I offer:
Understanding of spiritual awakening and kundalini processes
Grounding and nervous system regulation tools
Support in processing emotional material as it arises
Help integrating spiritual insights into everyday life
Because the kundalini process can sometimes feel destabilizing, grounding and nervous system regulation are essential. It is also important to learn how to bring spiritual insights into daily life, so that our realizations are not just abstract experiences, but something we can embody in the world.
